Share a scribble

Notebooks are shared with everyone in their workspace. You can open up a single scribble to specific people, keep it to yourself and the people you add, or publish it to anyone with the link.

Open the share settings

  1. Open the scribble and click the Share scribble button at the top of the page. You can also choose Share… from the scribble’s menu: right-click it in the sidebar or in a notebook’s list, or use its ⋯ menu.
  2. Under General access, choose who can open it (see below).
  3. To add someone, enter their email under Add people, choose Viewer or Editor, and click Add person.
  4. Click Copy link and send the link to them yourself. Scribblespace doesn’t email people you add.

General access options

OptionWho can open it
Workspace (default)Everyone in the workspace, with their usual role, plus anyone you add.
PrivateOnly you and the people you add. Other members can’t open it, owners and admins included. People you add must sign in.
Anyone with the linkAnyone with the link can read it without signing in. People you add as editors can also edit. Scribbles it links to stay private.

Adding people

  • The person needs a Scribblespace account first. If they don’t have one, ask them to sign up, then add them.
  • People you add don’t join your workspace. They open the scribble from the link, on a page of its own, and don’t see your notebooks.
  • An editor who isn’t in your workspace edits on that page: they click Edit, change the title and Markdown, and click Save changes. They can’t add new images or attachments there.
  • To change someone’s access, pick a new permission beside their name. Click × to remove them.

Making a scribble private

You can only choose Private while you’re connected and the notebook has finished syncing. The scribble then moves out of the shared notebook into its own private space, which appears in your notebook list as “Scribble ·” followed by its title.

Who can change sharing

Owners, admins and editors can change who can open a scribble. Viewers can open the share settings but not change them. A scribble in Trash can’t be shared, and its links stop working until it’s restored.

To send a teammate to a scribble, Copy scribble link from the scribble’s menu works too. Anyone who opens it without access sees the scribble’s shared page, or a notice that it isn’t available.
