Add drawings and diagrams

Scribblespace has two kinds of pictures you make yourself: drawings, which you sketch by hand on a canvas, and diagrams, which you write as text in Mermaid and Scribblespace draws for you.

Add a drawing

  1. Type /drawing on an empty line. (Or choose Insert drawing from the scribble’s ⋯ menu, which adds the drawing at the end of the scribble.)
  2. A canvas opens. Draw with its tools: shapes, arrows, text, freehand lines and more. The canvas saves as you draw.
  3. Give the drawing a name in the title field at the top, in place of “Untitled drawing”.
  4. Click Save to note to put a picture of the drawing in your scribble.

To change a drawing later, hover its picture and click Edit drawing, then Save to note again to update the picture. Shapes stay editable, and if a teammate opens the same drawing you’ll see their pointer and changes as they draw.

Click Editable file to download the drawing as an .excalidraw file you can open in Excalidraw.

Add a diagram

  1. Type /diagram. Scribblespace inserts a Mermaid code block with a small sample flowchart.
  2. Edit the text. The diagram is drawn below the code and updates as you type.

Diagrams use Mermaid syntax and support Mermaid’s built-in diagram types, such as flowcharts, sequence diagrams and Gantt charts. Any code block set to Mermaid diagram is drawn the same way. If the text has a mistake, the error shows where the diagram would be. Keep each diagram under 50,000 characters.
