Use daily notes
Press AltD, or click Daily Notes in the sidebar, to open today’s note. It lives in a notebook called Daily Notes in the workspace you’re in, and it reopens the same note all day.
You can also press CtrlK and choose Open today's daily note, or click Open today's note in Settings › Keyboard Shortcuts › Daily Notes.
How it works
- The first time you open today’s note, Scribblespace creates the Daily Notes notebook for you. That needs a connection.
- Each day’s note is titled with its date, like
2026-03-14. The date follows your device’s time zone. - If you rename today’s note, or move it to Trash, opening today’s note again brings back the same one (out of Trash too).
- Once the notebook is on your device, daily notes work offline. If two devices create the same day’s note offline, they become one note when they sync, with everyone’s writing kept.
Viewers can open existing daily notes but can’t create the notebook or a new day’s note.
Change the shortcut
- Open Settings › Keyboard Shortcuts and scroll to Daily Notes.
- Click Change shortcut and press the keys you want. Reset shortcut goes back to AltD.
The shortcut is saved on this device. See Change a keyboard shortcut.
