Add properties

Properties are fields at the top of a scribble, such as who it’s assigned to, its status and when it’s due. Each scribble can have its own; there is no setup.

  1. Type /properties, or press Ctrl;.
  2. Type a name, or choose a suggestion such as status, assignee, due or tags, and press Enter.
  3. Fill in the value. Press Enter or click away to save it.

Hover a property to remove it, and click its name to rename it. Add property adds another; removing the last one removes the panel.

Kinds of values

Scribblespace picks an editor from the name and the value:

PropertyHow you edit it
assignee, owner, reviewers and other peopleChips with your teammates’ names and pictures. Type to add someone.
due, date, deadline, or any dateA calendar.
tags, labels, or any listChips. Type and press Enter or a comma to add one.
status, priorityText with suggestions, such as In progress and Done.
true or falseA checkbox.
A web addressText, with a button to open it.
Anything elseText.

Properties are Markdown

Properties are saved as YAML frontmatter at the top of the scribble’s Markdown, between two --- lines, the same format Obsidian and many other apps use. Exports, imports, the API and agents keep them, and other apps read them.

Choose Edit as YAML in the panel, or move the cursor up into it, to edit the YAML directly. YAML the panel can’t edit, such as nested values, stays as text and is never rewritten.
